Rhön - Hugo-Schubert-Weg - Poppenhausen (Wasserkuppe)

In terms of evolutionary history, Sielos with its fossil flora and fauna forms a link in the series of well-known fossil sites - including those of world importance such as Messel or the Geiseltal near Halle.

Also worth a visit is the Sieblos Museum in the town hall of Poppenhausen (Wasserkuppe). The entrance to the museum is modeled on a mine tunnel. In the museum, visitors can expect numerous and diverse fossil finds from the Rhön and an insight into the work of the local fossil digger Hugo Schubert. The museum is open free of charge during the opening hours of the town hall.
